Gulfstream - a detailed overview of the aircraft manufacturer

Gulstream (Gulfstream, some mistakenly spell Golfstream) is an American business-class aircraft construction company. Founded in 1958 on the basis of military aircraft, over time it broke up into civil and military production separately.

Pay attention to another manufacturer - Falcon, and one of his legends - Falcon 900.

To find out why it is worth buying a Gulfstream jet business, how the price of Gulfstream aircraft is formed and how much they cost, you should list all the awards and the history of the formation of quality and growth in the level of service. Buying a Gulfstream aircraft means purchasing a unique aircraft with a high-premium level of comfort.

GIVE

Gulfstream launched the world's first commercial jet, called the Grumman Golfstream I (GIVE), which was successful due to the combination of previously unseen parameters - speed of 560 km / h, flight range of 3540 km at an altitude of 7620 m with 12 landing places. After this success, production was divided into two cities - bedding, New York (military) and civilian, Savannah, USA (1967).

The civil aviation industry initially employed over a hundred people, but due to the great success of the company, the number of employees quickly increased to almost two thousand. In 1977, the company merged with light aircraft manufacturer American Aviation, and in 1978 it was bought out by American Jet Industries, led by Allen Paulson, who changed its name to Gulfstream American.

GII and GIII

Continuation of the line from the successful predecessor GI, the course for the release of which was taken by Allen Paulson. The GII sold 256 deliveries and ceased production in 1977. Then came the GIII. Released for sale in 1980, the model became the first business jet to fly over both poles.

Hustler 400

A prototype that never went on sale. It had a propeller, which distinguished it from subsequent models of the company.

GIIB

An improved version of the GII with the same specifications but with a shorter fuselage. 40 models were sold.

At this stage, in the spring of 1982, over two and a half thousand people worked at one plant in Savannah. The name was changed again - this time Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation and a year later issued 8.8 million shares to the public. In 1985, Chrysler bought the company for $637 million.

For the first time, the Gulf Stream appeared on the Fortune list at number 417.

Gulfstream IV (GIV)

The first business class jet with an all-glass cockpit.

In 1989, Chrysler put the Gulfstream aircraft company up for sale, and former owner Polman, along with Forstmann Little & Co. participated in the acquisition and bought it back. Forstmann Little & Co. — a private firm that specialized in funded buyouts (owners of financial capital).

The 90s, according to Wikipedia, were successful for the company. And for good reason - in 1994, NetJets, the world's largest company selling business jets, signed a contract for a period of 5 years with the Gulf Stream.

Gulfstream V

Introduced in 1995 and became the longest running business jet by passing the Integrated Test Facility (ITF). After each Gulf Stream, the aircraft became not only indicative in terms of comfort, but also had decent technical characteristics.

In 1996, Savannah opened its first service center exclusively for Golfstream aircraft at a cost of $16 million. The area of the hangar nearby is 12,630 m2. In 1997, the development of two models started simultaneously - the Gulfstream business jet line was replenished with the GIV-SP and GV.

GV broke 40 speed and distance records a few months after the release, and the development team received an award in the same year Robert J Collier Trophy, the highest level of praise in the aviation world.

In 1998, the company bought Kimberly-Clark from KC Aviation for $250 million, which operated in Dallas, Wisconsin (Appleton), Massachusetts (Westfield).

In the early 2000s, General Dynamics, one of the largest manufacturers of aircraft, including military equipment, acquired the Gulfstream and opened a $5.5 million repair and maintenance center in Savannah.

The era of market monopolization continued, and in 2001 Gulfstream first acquired Galaxy Aerospace and their Astra SPX and Galaxy subsidiaries, renaming them the Gulfstream G100 and G200, respectively. The expansion also opened 4 US service centers in Las Vegas, Dallas, West Palm Beach, Florida and Minneapolis.

G100

In 2002, the brand and product name changed to Arabic numerals and letters instead of Roman ones. In the same year, the G100 was released - an ultra-fast business jet, which was chosen in the Caribbean and North America.

G550

In 2003 the Gulf Stream received the award again Robert J Collier Trophy for the development of the G550. This jet was the first civilian to receive FFA (Federal Aviation Administration) certification.

To do this, there must be an EVS on board - an improved vision system. It was also the first to feature PlaneView® in the cockpit, an integrated avionics suite with four 14-inch landscape format LCD displays.

In 2005, they introduced access to the Internet on board for passengers - the Broad Band Multi-Link (BBML) system, as well as a means of suppressing sonic boom - the system Quiet Spike. After the display technology in the cabin also improved to the invention of new, three-dimensional images on a larger diagonal.

At the moment, the level of comfort of civilian aircraft has been polished to such an extent that the company constantly receives government orders for aircraft to transport heads of government and ambassadors.

Now owned by General Dynamics, president - Mark Burns. The headquarters is located in the USA, Georgia, Savannah, but the area served is the whole world. The company employs over 11,000 people in 12 major cities in the US, UK, Mexico and Brazil and operates 9 major aircraft maintenance and repair services, as well as one component repair shop.

The official website contains a photo of business jets and a Russian translation, because Moscow is a frequent client of the business-level private aircraft market, which is interested in both renting and buying new jets, despite their cost. Also, using the site, you can find out how much the Gulfstream aircraft costs.

Over 200 Gulfstream aircraft are used by the governments of more than 32 countries, including as reconnaissance aircraft. You can learn more about the numbers about the Gulfstream Aircraft lineup in the tables below and decide which Golfstream aircraft to buy.
